![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() During a game, a member of a professional sports team made a rookie mistake. No malice, no ill-will, no injury, and no loss of life or loss of points just a mistake. And, despite the mistake, the team won the game. The media coverage and ensuing reports did address the unexpected team victory but always concluded with the rookie mistake. Even one of the broadcasters reported that this simple mistake had eclipsed the unexpected team victory. To his credit, the mistake-maker publicly owned it, took it in stride, and returned to play another day. Of course, he will not make that mistake again, but what a shame it was that the microscope was directed at his flaw rather than his accomplishments. ![]()
